When using IEC for the first time, it is recommended that you begin with the following steps.
Step 1: Sign in to the Platform
Open a supported web browser and connect to the IEC management URL provided by your administrator. Sign in with your assigned account and verify that the expected menus and resources are visible after login. Depending on your environment, you may sign in through:
- A local IEC account
- Microsoft Active Directory
- OpenLDAP
If you cannot find the required menu items after login, verify that your account has been granted the necessary permissions.
Step 2: Identify Your Role
Before performing any operation, determine which role applies to your account. IEC permissions differ by role, and your available functions may depend on whether you are a:
- General user
- Maintainer
- Administrator
Understanding your role helps you determine which interface to use and which tasks you are allowed to perform.
Step 3: Become Familiar with the Management Interfaces
IEC provides different management interfaces for different tasks.
- Use EonKube for daily operations such as application management, workloads, virtualization, HPC jobs, and monitoring.
- Use EonOne for KS for infrastructure operations such as node maintenance, firmware management, backup and restore, and external storage integration.
Before starting operational work, make sure you understand which interface is appropriate for the task you want to perform.
Step 4: Review Available Resources
Before deploying applications or creating virtual machines, confirm that the necessary resources are available. Depending on the task, this may include:- A project and namespace
- Application permissions
- Container images or VM images
- Storage resources
- Network settings
- GPU resources
- External storage connections
Step 5: Start with a Basic Task
For new users, the following tasks are recommended as first-time activities:- Launch an application from Marketplace
- View the status of an installed application
- Run a workload from a Docker image
- Upload an operating system image
- Create a virtual machine
- Viewing and Accessing a Virtual Machine
- Continue to advanced tasks such as HPC, monitoring, backup, or administration based on your role.
These tasks help users become familiar with the platform structure and common workflows.
