RAID Type
RAID Type Explanation
RAID 0 (Striping)
Minimum drives: 2
Data is distributed across multiple drives for higher performance but offers no redundancy.
RAID 1 (Mirroring)
Minimum drives: 2
Data is duplicated on two drives, providing full redundancy.
RAID 5 (Striping with Parity)
Minimum drives: 3
Data and parity are spread across multiple drives, allowing one drive failure.
RAID 6 (Dual Parity)
Minimum drives: 4
Similar to RAID 5 but with two parity blocks, allowing two drive failures.
RAID 50 (RAID 5+0)
Minimum drives: 6
Combines multiple RAID 5 groups into a RAID 0 for improved performance and fault tolerance.
RAID 60 (RAID 6+0)
Minimum drives: 8
Combines multiple RAID 6 groups into a RAID 0, providing high reliability and performance.
Notes:
- Check the Infortrend products compatibility matrix to verify which drives are supported by your Infortrend device. (GS, DS)
- The Infortrend RAID calculator uses binary storage calculations for its results.
- Maximum logical drive capacity is 512TB.
- The results provided by this RAID calculator are approximate and should be used as a reference. Actual usable capacity may vary based on system configuration.
