FAQ
Infortrend provides Cache Backup Module (CBM) design on mother board for protecting cache data when power outage occurs. A CBM module includes a battery and a M.2 SSD on each controller. When power outage occurs, the processor can have enough power to flush cache data to M.2 SSD by CBM protection. After power is restored, the data in M.2 SSD will then be saved back to disks.
There are two battery options applied in CBM: BBU with flash module and super capacitor with flash module. We recommend to use super capacitor with flash module for longer lifespan and maintenance-free.
